The Elgar Centre Redevelopment Project
Come and see the newly refurbished Elgar Centre at the Elgar Birthplace Museum. Thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and The Foundation for Sport and the Arts (FSA) we have new displays and updated facilities.

The grant of £45,900 from HLF and £50,000 from FSA has allowed us to make new and exciting additions the Elgar Centre, these include:
- Computer interactives and video screens which allow us to place Elgar within his historical context by exploring the social history of the era. These presentations will include archive photographs and film, from both the Museum’s collection and national archives, which have the power to transport the visitor back to Elgar’s Victorian / Edwardian past and breathe life into our objects from that era.
- A new exhibition area for temporary displays where we can show even more of the unique and fascinating collections that we hold in trust for the nation.
- A new reception counter which can cope with the number of visitors and the growing shop sales.
- A small café bar which will give visitors an area to relax and enjoy Elgar’s wonderful music over morning coffee or afternoon tea.
